It’s easier for them to believe

that something is wrong with you

than it is for them to believe

that something wrong happened to you.

 

You deserve the same kind of love

you so easily give to others.

 

Stop forgiving those who haven’t apologized.

Not everything is forgivable.

Some things will never be okay, no matter how much time passes.

Some pains and hurts cause damage

that causes a scar that never goes away.

Don’t feel like you have to forgive.

Only do it when you are ready, and if you want to.

 

When you build your home in other people,

you give them the power to make you homeless.

 

It’s time to fall in love with the people who actually love you.

Not the ones who make you feel like

you have to work hard for their love.

 

You can’t change someone.

So stop trying.

Put that energy towards changing yourself for the better.

That-you can do.

 

These mountains that you are carrying,

you were only supposed to climb.

 

Don’t let your want replace your need,

because a day will come when you will lose that you need to get what you want.

 

The time you have on this earth is limited.

Why spend it doing something you hate?

Why spend it living on autopilot?

 

The one who broke you cannot heal you.

 

Those who love you don’t take advantage of your innocence

because they know how hard it is

to maintain a white heart in a dark world.

 

Stop being so nice to the people who hurt you.

 

You’re always going to be a villain in someone’s story.

Make sure you’re not the villain in your own story.

 

You can’t erase what happened to you.

But you can choose to put it behind you, under your feet,

and rise like the hero you are.

 

It’s okay for you to be angry about what happened to you.

Just don’t let your anger

make you like the one who broke you.

Stay true to yourself.

 

If they are not putting the effort to stay in your life,

let them go.

You don’t deserve to constantly question

what you mean to someone.

 

You can be a fighter and have pain inside of you.

You can be a hero and live with trauma.

You can be brave and still need a break.

 

I thought that I needed your apology to move on.

I really needed to forgive myself first.

 

You were my home for so long.

Now I realize that humans cannot be homes.

If homes can leave, then they are not homes.

 

If you gave them once the love that they did not deserve,

they will come back for more.
